I’m Simran Jhanjarya, a singer, songwriter, and voice artist based in Mumbai. Music has
always been at the center of my life, but it wasn’t something I consciously chose—it was
always just there, shaping me. Growing up, I was the kind of kid who found comfort in
melodies and words, piecing together my thoughts through music long before I realized I was
actually writing songs.
I studied mass media at Mithibai College, which gave me an interesting perspective on
storytelling—how different mediums shape narratives and how music, in its purest form, is
one of the most personal yet universal ways to communicate. My influences are scattered
across genres and moods—Lana Del Rey, Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, A.R. Rahman, 21 Savage,
Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Skrillex, The Weeknd, Jhene Aiko, Rekha Bhardwaj, Eminem,
Tove Lo, Sade, John Mayer, Adele, Daniel Caesar, The Yellow Diary, Jorja Smith—the list
keeps evolving. I like music that makes you feel something, whether it’s nostalgia, chaos,
stillness, or euphoria.
In October 2023, I released my first single, Jadugari. I wrote and composed this song during
a phase where I was exploring my sound, trying to make sense of the kind of music I wanted
to create. Jadugari is personal but also open-ended—it’s about the kind of magic that
lingers, about moments that feel surreal but leave a lasting impact. I see songwriting as an
extension of myself, not just an artistic pursuit but a way to document life in real
time.
Right now, I’m working on a lot of new music—singles and an EP that will come out in 2025. I
don’t want to box myself into one sound or one genre; I’m letting my music grow with me.
Alongside my recorded work, I’m also shaping my live performances, figuring out how I want
my music to exist in a space where people experience it in real-time.
At the end of the day, I just want to make honest music—songs that feel raw, unfiltered, and
real. I don’t know exactly where this journey is taking me, but I know I want to keep
creating, experimenting, and evolving. This is just the beginning.
